Notes: Named after Hartline Ford, a place where an old road crosses Little River.
This beer has a nice amber color.
The honey malt gives a pleasant and subtle flavor that works well with Amarillo or Cascade hops. Don't go overboard on the hops though, or you will lose the balance of flavors, with the hops overwhelming the malts. |

Notes: Basic Witbier recipe for a "Beer Secret Santa" project. This is a beer I would otherwise never brew and do not drink.
Used ingredients are "on hand" and would have preferred a Noble Hop, though I don't suppose it will matter much (hitting 15IBU with 60min boil). SRM is marginally higher than normal because I don't have enough Pilsner Malt on hand, but this Montana 2-Row is very light.
Efficiency has been inconsistent lately with this new malt, so I may hit this with some Dextrose to adjust - not worried too much about "drying" out the beer too much, OG is already too high for the style.

Notes: Brewing Instructions
Mash:
Heat strike water to 160°F.
Mash grains at 154°F for 60 minutes. Stir occasionally.
Raise to 170°F for mash-out and hold for 10 minutes.
Boil:
Bring wort to a boil (60 minutes total).
Add Mosaic hops at the beginning of the boil (60 minutes).
Add Galaxy hops at 10 minutes remaining.
Whirlpool:
Cool wort to ~170°F.
Add whirlpool hops (Citra and Eclipse) and steep for 20 minutes.
Chill and Ferment:
Chill wort to ~75°F.
Pitch Hothead Kveik yeast.
Dry Hop:
On day 3 of fermentation, add dry hop additions (Mosaic and Galaxy).
Keep hops in contact for 3-4 days.
Carbonate:
