Notes: I'm scaling this recipe for 5.5 gal batches on my own system. All credit to Verdant Brewing. Just wanted this one in the memory bank for future reference. Only started having success with the Hop Bomb IPA's after watching some stuff from Verdant. Thought I'd try out one of their bills, to spec. Also adjust water according to Verdant specs. I start with R/O for all my beers, but you may want to build a water profile from the ground up for this one. The water profile is the first crucial component of this recipe, cuz it's Verdant's house water profile.

Note. I didn't have Crisp extra pale on hand, or ready access to it, so I'm subbing Bohemian Pilsner for the base, Light color required. Will see what I can do about sourcing some Crisp Extra.
Edit 2.
Note - the COLD TEMP dry hop addition. Add dry hops when ferment is completely finished, then ramp your temperature down to as cold as you can. Limiting oxygen is also crucial for this style due to the amount of volatiles in it. If you have a closed system great! If not, consider running Co2 into your vessel to maintain a back pressure while adding the dry hop. As well, If you're using a bucket or fermentasaurus style vessel without gas posts, the temp drop will want to pull air into the lock. How I deal with this is by filling a balloon with Co2, and affixing it to a regular airlock. As the dry hop temp drops, the vessel pulls Co2 instead of air through the lock - and starsan into the beer.. 2-3 days cellaring max. Too long on the dry hops will start tasting vegetal. get'er carbed n she's ready to go. |
