Notes: Notes - The brown sugar and grapefruit ARE NOT included in OG calculations above, but only added in the fermenter. Measured/target OG should be 1.079 coming out of the kettle, and is raised to ~1.082 when these additions are made to the primary. ABV is slightly affected by this
From AHA:
Mash grains at 152° F (67° C) for 60 minutes. Mash out at 170° F (77° C) for 30 minutes. Add 1/8 lb of honey and 1 5/8 lb table sugar to the boil at 30 minutes from flameout. Add the remaining 1/8 lb honey and 1/8 lb table sugar at 5 minutes from flameout. Ferment one week at 70° F (21° C) in primary, followed by two weeks at 64° F (18° C) in secondary. Use fresh, pink grapefruit, membranes removed, and add to primary at 60 hours along with the 4 ounces of light brown sugar.
Primary fermentation for 7 days at 70° F (21° C).
Secondary fermentation for 14 days at 64° F (18° C).
Bottle condition to 2.15 vol. CO2 with 3.4 oz table sugar. |

Notes: Intended to use only Aromatic and small amount of wheat. Didn't have Aromatic so subbed small amount of Munich, Biscuit and CaraVienne. Turned out malty and clean, but malt just slightly on the sweet side.
Brewed for South Austin Area Zymurgists Wort Waltz #4.

Notes: This recipe was inspired by Ross Harms and a Fruity Pebbles Brew. It's part of a "Cereal Killer Challenge" within the brew club and just a fun "Raw Beer" recipe to play with. Below are the notes and guidelines I am using for this brew day as well.
(This recipe uses 3 box's @ 580g/each)
Notes from Ross Harms Fruity Pebbles Brew
-mix crushed grain, hops, cereal, and rice hulls in a bucket.
-I mashed at 149°f for 1 hour with 1.25qt per lb
-I heated the full volume of sparge water to 185°f
-Instead of doing a traditional mash, I actually treat the sparge water like a giant mash out and add add the full volume to the mash tun.
-It is important that the contents of the mash tun hit a temperature between 161°and 170°. If you are less than this the wort will likely not be pasteurized. If you are higher than this you may start to produce DMS. I shoot for 166°.
-Hold this temp for 15 minutes
-I sanitize my kettle and chiller during this time.
-Transfer and chill to pitching temp in your sanitized fermenter.
-Pitch yeast |

Notes: Made a big 1.2L yeast starter with my new homemade stir plate!
Based on the popular YONA YONA ALE from Japan.
Yona Yona (“Night after night” in Japanese) pale ale is a medium-bodied American pale ale with a generous amount of cascade hops. Citrus flavor from premium Cascade hops and well-balanced bitterness and sweetness are its main character.
