Notes: Mash for 90 minutes at 152°F (67°C), lauter, sparge, and collect wort. Boil 90 minutes, adding hops, orange zest, orange juice, and honey as indicated. Chill wort to 65°F (18°C) and ferment at that temperature until specific gravity stabilizes at or near 1.017 (4.3°P). Age 3–4 weeks and bottle or keg with 3 vol. (6 g/L) CO2.

BrewDog vs La Pirata. One of a series of collaborations with European craft breweries, aimed at promoting engagement and market growth. Our collab with Spanish brewes La Pirata features a barley wine, inspired by Muscatel. Sanitise the oak chips before adding them to the fermenter. Vodka is ideal as it’s a neutral spirit and can be drained off. If you don’t want to affect the ABV, try steaming them.
