All of the hops were added to a purged keg in a fine mesh bag. Racked beer on top of hops and left at room temperature (76F) for 24 hours, then into the keezer. Hops remained in the keg until it kicked.

Notes: Spread the Libbey's Canned Pumpkin evenly onto a cookie sheet. Sprinkle with brown sugar (about 1/2 to 3/4 cup) of brown sugar and dust with pumpkin pie spices. Roast in oven at 375 for an hour to Caramelize and and cool before putting into mash (or it may throw mash temps).
I'm going to use a pound of rice hulls to see if it'll help with re circulation. |

Notes: Great version of a NE IPA that includes a half kilo of ripe mango during fermentation and some lactose in the boil.
I made the mistake of dumping the mango straight into the fermenter without a bag - won't do that again.
Added the mango and first dry hop charge 2 days into fermentation. Added the second dry hop charge a couple days after that. Pulled the mango and initial dry hop charge a week into fermentation (5 days after they were added).
After 2 weeks of fermentation, cold crashed for 2 days to 5 c. |

Notes: Used 2nd generation WL840 from previous batch of American Lager. Excellent beer, reminisient of a German Pils with a lot more more body, or maybe an over-bitter Dortmunder. Hops aromatics/bitterness spot on for the style. In a judging scenario, it would probably score better as a Pre-Pro if the carafoam was increased and temp rests evened out between 148* and 160* to increase body. Maybe 45 mins each. |
