Notes: 'Revelation' is a personal reference, rather an arrogant assumption of the quality of this ale. Though it should be good, of course!
Brew day 11/08/17. Mash was not smooth. Miscalculation of mash tun capacity resulted in two separate mashes. One slightly higher temp than the ither. However, half decent mash out achieved and some good recirculated sparging. Result was higher than expected efficiency with OG 1.059. Only 9 litre batch, as fermentor would be too full with 10. Yeast rehydrated and pitched at 20 degrees after 5 hours cooling in the ferm chamber.
Aroma steep hops added to primary as could not cool down wort enough. Direct addition, so hops are in for the length of the fermentation. Will have to see the results. Dry hopped 14g each of Cascade and Saaz.
stonking fermentation again. 1.006 at 17c. Calibrated as the same. ABV 6.96%! Bit above target, but who cares? Nottingham seems to be a beast. May, of course, be due to over pitching though... |

Version 2 tweaks:
Using Firestone water profile with 7 g of CaCl
switching 0 min hop addition and cool quickly
adding 1 more oz. of Saphir to dry hop
adding 1 oz. of Liberty OR Centennial as well
Trying to ramp up the fruity flavors.

Notes: After mash and fly sparge complete, heated wort to 175 degrees and cooled to 95 degrees. Added 1 carton Goodbelly Blueberry Acai & 1 envelope Omega Lacto Blend at 95 degrees at 9 p.m on June 23. Sat kettle on heating pad on “high.” PH reading was 5.4 at addition of lacto.
After 22 hours on June 24, PH reading at 3.4. Boiled for 45 minutes adding one ounce Spalt at 20 minutes remaining and 1/2 pound lactose at 10 minutes remaining. Cooled and pitched a package of Omega Hot Head Kveik at 80 degrees.
O.G. Reading of 1.053.
Fermentation Stopped at 1.020 - - for several days - - oh well. Final Gravity meant ABV of approx. 4.3%. Kegged & turned out awesome. |
