Notes: Brewing Notes:
Steep grains in 1.5 gal. of 155° F water for 30 minutes. Sparge w/ half gallon of 170 deg water. Drain steeping grains by pouring sparge water over grains, but don't squeeze. Add 1 gal of water and bring to boil. Turn off heat and add Light LME and stir well to dissolve malt. Turn on heat and bring to boil and start 60 min boil and hop schedule. Turn off heat and add LME extract.
Cool wort with chiller to 80 F. Add sterilized water to equal 5.5 gallons. Pitch yeast. |

Notes: Boil the extract and add the steeping grains. Add the dry ingredients at the prescribed times. Let the boiled ingredients cool. Mix honey with warm water to help it dissolve. Combine both worts, and top off with water (leave some head space, this one produced a lot of foam!). I used a small amount of yeast nutrient to help it along.

Steep Belgian malt at 160 F for 30 minutes.
Bring 3.0 lbs DME and water t boil, add wort from grains. Return to boil and add 0.7 oz Magnum hops. Boil for 40 minutes. Add 0.7 oz Magnum hops, add 3.3 lbs LME, and boil for 20 minutes. Add Irish Moss with 10 minutes boil remaining. Remove from heat and add 0.6 oz Magnum hops.
Sg = 1054 on 6/8/13
Rg = 1014 on 6/23/13
Bg = 1013 on 7/14/13
Bottled with 4 oz priming sugar
Notes: Good beer, hop profile lower than expected, good caramel hop and balance.
