Notes: Using two packs of Wyeast 1728 Scottish Ale. The other one is 1 month old, the other one 3 months old.
Making two separate 2 liter yeast starters with stir plates and stepping up both after 24 hours with 1.5 liter starters on stir plate.
Based on my calculations (using C.White stir plate as a base), I should reach about 900 billion cells, which is 300 billion cells per 20 liters of wort.
OG:1.065
FG:1.018
Turned out way too sweet and bitter (due to high amount of roasted / caramelized malts). |

Notes: I came up with this recipe in order to use the hops I grow at home. I harvested the hops the same day I brewed this recipe.
I am pretty sure the IBUs are wrong as I calculated and IBU of around 110 - 120.

Founders released their beer about 30 days after I brewed this recipe. |

Notes: Pilsner was used merely to make up the pale malt grain bill as there was not enough maris otter.
26/4/15 Have brewed this once (22/4/15) and it appears to have just missed target ABV by 0.5. So, not bad.
Aroma so far is roasty and coffeeish, maybe with a bit of chocolate. Still very green and a little harsh. Bottling in a week's time and giving four weeks conditioning. |
