 Grain Bill:
 11 lbs (5 kg) Pale Malt (2-row): This will provide the base and backbone of your beer.
 1 lb (0.45 kg) Munich Malt: Adds a touch of malty sweetness and complexity.
 0.5 lb (0.23 kg) Caramel/Crystal Malt (40L): Contributes to body and a slight caramel flavor.
 0.5 lb (0.23 kg) Vienna Malt: Enhances the malt profile with a slight toasty character.
 Hop Schedule:
 Bittering (60 minutes):
 
 0.5 oz (14 g) Magnum: A high-alpha hop ideal for clean, smooth bitterness.
 Flavor (20 minutes):
 
 0.5 oz (14 g) Chinook: Adds piney, resinous, and slight spicy flavors.
 Aroma (10 minutes):
 
 0.5 oz (14 g) Centennial: Known for its citrusy and floral notes, it complements the other hops well.
 0.5 oz (14 g) Calypso: Contributes a mix of fruity (apple, pear) and citrusy flavors.
 Whirlpool (0 minutes, steep for 20 minutes at 170°F/77°C):
 
 0.5 oz (14 g) Ella: Provides floral, spicy, and tropical fruit flavors.
 0.5 oz (14 g) Azacca: Adds intense tropical fruit, mango, and citrus characteristics.
 0.5 oz (14 g) Vic Secret: Delivers a punch of pineapple, pine, and herbal notes.
 Dry Hop (7 days before packaging):
 
 0.5 oz (14 g) Chinook
 0.5 oz (14 g) Centennial
 0.5 oz (14 g) Vic Secret
 0.5 oz (14 g) Ella
 0.5 oz (14 g) Azacca
 0.5 oz (14 g) Calypso
 
 Yeast:
 American Ale Yeast (Wyeast 1056, White Labs WLP001, or SafAle US-05): A clean, neutral yeast that allows the hop flavors to shine through.
 Brewing Process:
 Mash:
 
 Mash the grains at 152°F (67°C) for 60 minutes to achieve a balanced fermentability, which will provide a good body while allowing the hops to be the star.
 Boil:
 
 Boil for 60 minutes, following the hop schedule above.
 Whirlpool:
 
 After boiling, chill the wort down to 170°F (77°C), then add the whirlpool hops and steep for 20 minutes. This helps to extract flavor and aroma without too much bitterness.
 Fermentation:
 
 Chill the wort to around 68°F (20°C), pitch the yeast, and ferment at 67-70°F (19-21°C) for about 2 weeks or until fermentation is complete.
 Dry Hopping:
 
 After primary fermentation is complete, add the dry hops and let them steep in the beer for 5-7 days.
 Packaging:
 
 After dry hopping, cold crash the beer for 2-3 days to help clarify it, then bottle or keg the beer, carbonate to about 2.5 volumes of CO2, and enjoy!
 
 Tasting Notes:
 Expect a beer with a golden color and a strong hop aroma featuring a mix of pine, citrus, tropical fruit, and subtle herbal notes. The bitterness will be assertive but balanced by a clean malt backbone, making this IPA a crisp, refreshing, and flavorful brew that showcases the unique qualities of each hop.

                Notes: No matter if your an all-grain or extract brewer, below is my favorite recipe for brewing a Black IPA. Try it. You won’t regret it. (Feel free to sub in your own favorite hops)
 
 Procedure:
 Mash at 152° F for an hour. Mash out at 170° F and sparge with 180° F water to make 6 gallons. Heat to boiling and then add 10 HBUs of Sorachi Ace hops.
 
 Boil 45 minutes, then add 0.5 oz Sorachi Ace hops. Boil 15 more minutes and turn off heat and add 0.5 oz of Sorachi Ace hops.
 
 Cool as quickly as possible to 70° F, rack to your fermenter, and pitch yeast.
 
 After 7-10 days, rack to secondary fermenter and dry hop with 0.5 oz of Sorachi Ace hops. After 14 days, prime and bottle or keg.
