Notes: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy has this to say about the Joopleberry: The joopleberry shrub was a pinky russet plant that grew on the home planet of the Shaltanacs: Broop Kidron Thirteen. It was used in a version of the saying: "the other man's grass is always greener". However, because of its colour, the Shaltanacs used the alternative phrase: "The other Shaltanac's joopleberry shrub is always a more mauvy shade of pinky russet". Broop Kidron Thirteen was known for being "somewhat eccentric botanically speaking."
The Shaltanac race of Broopkidren 13 had a similar phrase, but since their planet is somewhat eccentric, botanically speaking, the best they could manage was, ‘The other Shaltanac's joopleberry shrub is always a more mauvy shade of pinky-russet.’ And so the expression soon fell into disuse, and the Shaltanacs had little option but to become terribly happy and contented with their lot, much to the surprise of everyone else in the Galaxy who had not realized that the best way not to be unhappy is not to have a word for it.” |

End mash gravity was 1.055, not the 1.066 brewers friend expects although I haven’t added the candi yet!
Mash got stuck after my 90 so raked it
OG of 1.064 in the kettle with the sugar added. Also at 12.75 gallons pre boil.
Ended up at 1.066 OG post boil, not bad
Used 2 kinds of yeast, white labs ccc: one in each carboy and split a Wyeast ccc between the two
Finished at 1.000 for a 8.66% beer.
6/3/2022 tasting results
That's damn tasty beer! Nailed the style and flavor profile i was looking for. Need to tap that second keg to see how it's doing.
Did a beer off with second keg and a bottle of Westy double and this tasted better. Great recipe!
Added 0.5 Tbs of lactic acid
