| Notes: It has a slight sour note to it, I think it is from the high fermentation temperature of 35c, not unpleasant but not to my taste. Also, not bitter enough, the Zeus was meant to be 14% Alpha but seems weaker than that. Finally the color was darker than expected. |

If beer was invented here it would probably have been smoked over manuka instead of beech like german beers
Nottingham yeast as going for subtle english ale yeast character
Apparently gladfield manuka smoke flavour doesn't carry through strongly, but 40% should get the smoke flavour up there!
Liberty hops because they were free and not using enough for prominent character.

Notes: Originally brewed this as per the BD recipe and it was WAY too bitter. Reduced Chinook as boil-start bettering hop significantly to bring IBU down and added later on at dry hop stage.
Also on Tony Yates advice went for a 90 minute boil as opposed to the recommended 60 so upped water quantities accordingly and again amended hop usage downwards at start to reduce ibu’s.
