Notes: This is a Bell's Oberon clone crafted from this byo recipe : https://byo.com/blogs/entry/bell-s-oberon-clone-woodberon
The yeast was cultured from the dregs of 5 bottles of Oberon. Made a starter with the dregs, then cold crashed on the 5th day, decanted, and pitched the slurry into fresh starter wort. Pitched into 5 gal batch on the 7th day (following Sunday).
The WY3333 noted above was just a close enough indication. |

Mix together in a bowl and portion them out in 1oz. portions for timed additions.
Don't be afraid of the IBU's! This is NOT a very bitter beer, it's very well balanced with a Malty backbone and a bold hop flavor and aroma. Drinks like a mild double IPA. |

Notes: Version III. Adjusted to provide a paler ale. Version I and II is within the range of a Pale Ale though in the darker EBC range.
I also have to take a hard long look on the mash schema. Mashing on a lower temp. would proved more a crisper though with less body and mouth feel. Dropping the 51°C protein rest that I think is pointless with modern malts. |

-Water Adjustment additions are to 11.25 gal of water. (Only 9.25 total needed.
-Strike water heated to 178 (Rec. 166 strike) in HLT.
*Still too low. 162 in mash tun after transfer. Heated to 168. Mash temp starts at 152-156, depending on spot measured. (Dropped to 145-150 by end.)
-Added 2.6 gal boiling water from HLT to raise to mash out temp (170). Not enough. Heated to 156. Heated mash tun to 170.
