Notes: Slightly disaster filled first ever partial-mash brew-day. Intended to brew Sara Carter's Bombay IPA. Accidentally brewed this instead. Got lower than expected efficiency. Correctly calculated how much DME to add - but then inadvertently added 1Kg too much giving a much higher than expected OG.
This recipe was very bitter at the lower OG, so hopefully it will turn out reasonably well anyway. Even in the worst case scenario, I'm pretty sure I made beer.
90% attenuation based on what I actually got. Notty is amazin'. |

Notes: Add the dry hops at the end of primary fermentation. After the gravity holds steady for 24 hours, cool 2°F (1°C) per hour until the temperature reaches 32°F (0°C). Rack from primary into a secondary vessel, then add the dried hibiscus flowers in a mesh bag and steep for 24 hours. Then rack again or remove the hibiscus. It’s important not to have too much contact time with the hibiscus or you will extract tannins. |

Notes: A really floral Amber ale. Just enough bitterness that everyone will enjoy. Closely resembles Widmer Alchemy ale. Recipes don't get much easier and much better for the extract brewer. Steep your grains at 165 for 45 minutes before your boil when you add your extract. Then remove grains and boil, add your extract. Return to boil, add hops at timed intervals. Cool to 70ish and pitch yeast in a sanitized fermenter. Once your airlock stops bubbling transfer into a glass carboy for 2 to 3 weeks, I Kegged mine but bottling is standard rules of 3/4 cup of corn sugar in 2 cups of boiling water and transfer into bottling bucket or carboy. Then bottle. Have fun with this recipe. It's the most basic you can get for partial mash brewing. Soon you will be adding more grains and using less extract. |

add blueberries slowly to boil as to try not to drop the temperature too far below boil.

Notes: very disappointing brewing efficiency on that specific day. ended up with a much weaker wort and down-sized the total boil / fermenter volume to remain within style limits. primary @ 19 c for 2 week, racked to keg with 90g corn sugar and lagered for 3 weeks @ 19 c. cold crash @ 2 C. pleasant carbonation, light tanned thick head with good retention. very malty balanced with a fresh aroma and bitterness (did not adjust hop addition to new volume). very pleased with the result |
