Do you think this version is closer to Prairie Bomb than the version that was discussed on HBT in 2014? They're obviously very similar but I see higher IBU, lower OG, and the addition of DME instead of all 2 Row here. Also, are all of your ingredients labeled "late additions" just added while the wort gets from mash temp to boiling? Or are you holding a steeping temp for a set amount of time? Thanks!

hrigsby: This recipe was developed from the discussion in HBT you mentioned "Beanie Bomb". I just scaled it down to 5 gallons. I used the same hops but BF is showing 99 IBUs, not the 60 shown in HBT. I have read that frequently in high gravity beers it is hard to hit the OG numbers. I just bottled this evening and it is good at 10.63% ABV. It is fairly dry. My OG was lower but the final was also. After it ages a bit, I will do a taste test with the real deal to see how I did.
As for the grains, I can't get 20 lbs of 2-Row into my Mash & Boil all-in-one, I substituted the DME for some of the 2-Row and I put all the grains that did not require mashing into the sparge water to steep. (I did not want the specialty grains exposed to water over 170 as I ramped up to boil). I could have added them on top of the mash grains when I did the sparge, but thought the longer steep time might be better. I think I steeped them 30 minutes at 165.
