Notes

Based on the recipe here: https://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/recipe/view/1633/vanilla-cream-ale

Adapted to a 2 gallon batch size with some slight alterations. Celebrating 2 years of graduate school completed at UNL (colors are scarlet and cream).

Batch #1: 60 minute mash starting with 3 gallons of Lincoln, NE tap water left out overnight. Accidentally left some heat on, so strike temp was 168 and after adding grains it was at 171 for the first 40 minutes of mashing and only transitioned to 155 in the last 20 minutes. Did not add any honey to mash. Split 1 vanilla bean on brew day, scraped the insides and cut up the outside. Added all parts of the bean to 1-2 oz of 1800 Silver Tequila to soak. Fermented in 5 gallon Better Bottle starting on 7/4/2020.
