I never give my beers 5 stars, just seems wrong since I've got some bias here.....overall I am extremely pleased with this, especially as it was a first attempt at low ABV NEIPA style. Was shooting for mid 3% and ended up closer to 4%.
It came out extremely clean, well attenuated and crisp. Not as chewy and pillowy as I had hoped, but can work on that easily for the next batch. The Contessa hops for the bittering charge was a good choice and am getting some pear and lemongrass and a very soft bitterness.
The whirlpool hops could stand a little extra time at temperature before cooling I think. Theres a good fruity aroma with a good swirl, I'm thinking peach and some grapefruit notes. I definitely held back on the hops as the grain bill is a bit light, but overall not bad. I will bump up all the additions a bit next time.
The body is a light, as one would expect with a session strength ale, but the mix of grains gives an interesting and slightly biscuity impression. My wife feels like it's similar to Bench Brewing Co. Balls Falls IPA. I think it's closer to Collective Arts Hazy State for those that know these GTA region offerings. Will definitely brew again and again with little tweaks here and there but nothing drastic needed. Will also stick with the Verdant yeast from Lallemand, I love, love, love how it finishes with another fruity addition to the overall flavor. Give it a try for your summertime lawnmower beer.
