Notes: Cube and roast butternut squash sprinkled with a few tbsp brown sugar @350F for ~1hr.
Put squash in nylon bag and add to boil @60 min
@5 min remaining in boil, add lactose, whirlfloc tab, and spices.
Tincture:
-Make and let sit 2 weeks before brew day.
-Same spice load as the boil, with enough vodka to cover.
-Add tincture directly to bottling bucket with priming sugar solution.
*Best pumpkin beer I've had. Just the right amount of spice and the flavor is perfect. |

Notes: Mix all hops in a bowl and add equal proportions every 5 minutes over the last 80 minutes of boil.
Due to amount of grain the mash was split into two mash tuns, the decreased depth of the grain beds caused the sparge to move fast. The original gravity was significantly lower than expected. Future batches should add rice hulls to increase depth of bed or sparge one container above the other. |
