Notes
The sugar will be added after we take the grains out of mash, we will whirlpool for about 10-15 mins to have the sugar dissolve and while heating up to the boil.
This will be split into two 5 gal carboys each getting a yeast starter with the English ale yeast packets.
When taking the mash grains out there was a hole in the bag and we ran the pump through the hop basket to try and get the loose grains out of the wort. We also had to use a strainer picking up the floating pieces. Took about 50-60 minutes to take the grains out and the temp dropped down to about 120 degrees.
When we finally got all the grains out we realized we had miscalculated the amount of water and added an additional 2.5* gallons of tap water.
After adding the sugar before adding the water we had 24 Brix
After adding the water before bringing to a boil we had 19 Brix
After boiling for 90 minutes we had 22 Brix (OG 1.092)
