Notes

Molasses in at end of boil. Aim for clean wort into the bucket.

As far as hops go, Magnum subsututes for Newport, if you can't find 'em.

I just use Newport because the local yard grows 'em and I find them an excellent bittering hop. It is Magnum lineage. Has a nice of whiff of balsamic to it when you open the satchel.

The recipe I base this on calls for magnum as well, so by all means, you are the boss man of your sauce man,,,

Based this recipe on Nelson Brewery's Face Plant. First time I brewed it, I felt the residual sweetness was way higher than the original. Used London II yeast the first time, but will try again with Verdant IPA which is a much higher attenuator. Delicious beer with a hint of molasses on the palate, finishes crisp, and doesn't seem like a 6%'er at all...Love this winter ale. Will report back on the finish in 10 days or so. Use Organic if you want to call it a clone, cuz Nelson brews all organic.

Second brew is done, in the keg and cold crashing, sample was delish. Much closer to the original sample than my first try. Gravity was OG was about 3 points higher than projected, and FG was also 3 points higher, but all in all, this one turned out a charm. Give this one a try if you're reading this.

Having one now, just finished a brew day, and the first thought in my mind after taking a nice swig of this winter warmer, was "delightful"...

Doing this one again before the cold weather fux off...
