9/30/2017- still lacking color in most of the porter's I've made. more like a roast brown ale and fairly hoppy and astringent with bitterness and roast competing. Although after a week or two and on carbonation, I would think the flavors will soften. It does have a very nice mouthfeel that lends on the drier side with a FG of 1.012. Although I wouldn't want it anymore drier. I was thinking about either a cold infusion of carafa II to add to the aroma and color, but I think I'm just going to marry it as is and see what a week under carbonation does to it.

I do believe the yeast (imperial Flagship) I used is also contaminated with a Belgian strain as I am getting a hint of banana/clove. Oh well

this is actually a really good recipe. Maybe increase the roast a little more with everything up a little, or try chocolate malt. But the hops could be the same or a little less if not aged in a keg. There is no banana or clove that I'm getting. Good beer for sure. Head retention and flavor is good. aroma is present with roast but more aggressive might be better. Yeast and water profile is good where it is.
