Notes

Attempt at a simple American brown ale

4.5 gallons strike water added at 169 degrees, grain added, resting temp 155. Steeped grain for 75 minutes. Sparged to approx 6.5 gallons. Boiled for 70 minutes. Brief boil over at start. I noticed that not nearly enough wort had boiled off by 30 min and decided to crank up the heat and boil for another 10 min. Brown sugar added 10 min prior to flame out. Cooled with wort chiller.

Bottling Day, the beer smelled delicious and slightly boozy I boiled down the wort a bit longer and ended up with a slightly higher OG of about 1.072 however my FG was spot on at 1.016 giving me an ABV of 7.35%
