This WCIPA was brewed on our 1 BBL pilot system at New Magnolia Brewing Co in Houston, TX. I had kicked around taking one of our NEIPA/Hazy IPA and applying the the hops the exact same way but overlaid onto a WCIPA sort of template (grain bill, chico yeast, IBUs, mineral content, etc.) and this is recipe is where I landed. Two hop changes were made 1) did not mash hop 2) upped the magnum/IBUs a bit more in line with a WCIPA. Also, we wanted to make it very pale/light yellow so we used a light crystal malt. I think this turned out really well. The Amarillo, Citra and Mosaic really shined through backed by a very nice bitterness. The crystal gave it just a touch of malty-ness flavor and combined with the wheat, some small contributions to mouthfeel. A very clean, straight forward beer. Not a crushable beer given the ABV, but from a drinkability standpoint, it was very much was crushable. Turned out to be a crowd fav and we are considering scaling up to a 15 BBL batch for distro outside the taproom. 4.5 out of 5.
