This beer was produced on our 1 BBL pilot system at New Magnolia Brewing in Houston, TX. First, I thought the color was going to be a shade or two lighter. Not bad, just not what I was expecting. The impact of the crystal, even at 2.4% of the malt bill, I assume is what did it. A bit of pine, resin, and citrus with the first two more prominent. Touch of dankness. Overall, slightly unbalanced. The IBUs were on point providing a light bite, crispness to the beer. The overall finish fell a bit short, not sure why. I was expecting a bit of a longer finish, but this is, to quote Phil Collins, "Hello I must be going". Not exactly sure why. A solid offering but I would need to think about some tweaks to improve it a bit, perhaps another hop during or upping the amount of dry hops. 3.8 rating.
