Notes
Brewed 7/16. Mash in w 16 L Boulder city, with 4 ml gypsum and 0.5 ml lactic acid. Mash in at 135, hold 148 for 50 minutes, then raise to 158 for 10 minutes and mash out at 165. Sparge with Boulder city with 8 g gypsum, 0.5 tsp NaCl and 1.5 ml lactic acid. Cool to 75 F, then put in fridge to cool to 65 F prior to oxygenating and pitching. Pitched dregs from 1.5 L starter. Placed in basement, fermentation started at 62 F, rises to 66 - 68 F. Moved to bring temp to 70 - 72 F for 2nd week. Added 1 oz Citra, 1/2 oz Simcoe directly to fermentor on 07/31, added 1 oz Amarillo on 08/02. Racked to keg on 08/05, added 1/2 tsp gelatin in 1/4 cup 150 F water, gravity 1.013.
Tasting notes: Excellent IPA. Cleared nicely after a short time.
Probably could use more bittering hops to make it to Focal Banger bitterness range, but otherwise a very good IPA. Good base recipe to make again.
