This is a fabulous beer. I've brewed it twice now both times with excellent results. Great colour with some red hues. Taste is perfectly balanced. The Goldings hops are the star. It is quite bitter. The bitterness is offset by some residual malt sweetness. For a lover of English beer, this is a perfect pint.

With my first brew the 13 SRM colour prediction (shown above) was accurate. With my second brew, however, the colour turned out darker than the 13 SRM (shown above) would predict. [ I suspect that I burnt the wort during boil.]

For my second brew I couldn't get Gladfield Medium Crystal Malt so I substituted with Simpsons Caramalt and increased the Carafa Type 1 dehusked (Weyermann) to 0.075kg to compensate for the lower colour contribution [Perhaps the Carafa I may also have contributed to the darker than expected colour mentioned above].

Sadly, my friend and I just finished the last of this keg of Newtonian ESB. Parting is such sweet sorrow... when you've got another keg of beer ready to put on tap.
