How do you treat the cherries, and when do you add them? Do you use Fresh or frozen?

I’m actually brewing this at the moment so I’m not sure how it will turn out. I bought frozen cherries, deforested them, mashed them up and put them straight into the fermenter

For those who asking how this turned out: I'm just drinking it for the first time now. It's very drinkable, but they cherry flavor is extremely subtle. I was aiming for knock-your-sock-off cherry with this one, and I haven't got it. I think next time i'll look to blend the cherries into a paste, and also add some none-fermentable sugar (Stevia) when bottling to increase the sweetness.
