Notes
Notes
Mash at 153°F (67.2°C) for 60 minutes targeting a pH of 5.3, then mash out to 165°F (74°C). Cast out to 68°F (19°C). Ferment at temperature of my basement. Dry hop at the end of fermentation. Transfer off of the hops and yeast at day 11.
More Notes:
1.5 qts. of water lb of grain for initial strike.
You lose about 0.12 gallons of water per lb. of grains.
Taking into account samples etc. you should need approx. 5.5 gal in the end for a 5 gal batch. Should lose about 1.5 - 1.7 gal/hour during boil.
Cold crash for about 3 days at the end of fermentation before racking/kegging.
This recipe should lose: 1.2 gal of water during mash and 1.5 during boil.
For 5.5 gal in fermenter, will need 8.2 gal. total.
Strike: 3.75 gal
Fly Sparge: 4.5 gal
