Notes

The liquid extract here comes from a St Peters Ruby Ale kit, which I decided to spice up a bit with some extra hops and a specialist yeast variety.

The extract has some rye component as well as Barley. The kit doesn't call for a boil at all, but I'm doing one for the hop profile.

The liquid malt extract is pre-hopped with bittering hops, so the IBUs here are not going to be accurate. I reduced the 30min addition of Northern Brewer from 60 to 30g to account for this.

The batch size came out just over 20l, though the gravity here is accurate.


NOT RECOMMENDED - this came out with a really bitter aftertaste, probably because the extract was pre-hopped
