    Sad News - ABS Closing

https://www.atlanticbrewsupply.com/ This sucks. They fill grain bills in any increment, and offer double crush. Anyone know of anyone else that offers these services on the East coast?

Recipe Builder Dry Hop time/day added?

In the recipe builder, I've been recording dry hop time as the day I add the dry hops. Should I just be recording the amount of time I leave the hops in instead? Seems there should be a blank for both the day you add them and the length of time you leave them in.

Stupid things I did for Homebrew today

Pardon me if there's already a thread for this, but after this morning, there needed to be.:p I've been fermenting, carbing, and serving from the same keg using a spunding valve for a year. I'm doing a NEIPA, and decided to transfer from the fermenting keg to a purged serving keg for...

    Batch Size Exceeded Warning

I can't for the life of me figure this one out. I have virtually identical recipes that don't give me this warning. I've decided to just ignore it and get on with it, but it really confused me. Anyone see something I might be missing? This is for a 3-Gallon batch of this recipe...

El Dorado / Sabro / Strata Combo for NEIPA

Looking to do a Pina Colada-ish NEIPA, and figured the El Dorado for pineapple, and Sabro for cocounut might be a good combo. Also considering some Strata to add a little weedy dankness, but I wouldn't want to overpower the Pineapple/Coconut flavor. Ideas on ratios? Would probably use all in...

    BIAB Top Off Sparge?

I'm doing a 3 gallon BIAB Founders Breakfast Stout clone (https://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/recipe/view/1399170/founders-bs-3-gal) in a 5 gallon pot, and am trying to use the recipe builder to accurately calculate water requirements. My plan to make it work in the small pot, is to mash with...

    All Day Laundry Cream Ale

My wife came up with the name. I decided a cream ale would be appropriate. How does this recipe look? I wanted to add a bit of color, therefore, the Munich... https://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/recipe/view/1392340/all-day-laundry-cream-ale

    Help me choose a batch

I'm about to order my next three batches. An IPA, a Porter, and... Trying to pick between these two: https://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/recipe/view/1384487/ill-mannered-alt or https://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/recipe/view/1386090/esb Which one?

Top 5 things you've done to improve your homebrew experience

Me: 1. Biab - Easy. It was good to refresh my memory of brewing using extract kits (after dabbling with homebrew in the '90s, I picked it up again during Covid), but moving to biab has been a huge improvement. 2. Kegging. I hate cleaning and filling bottles. Kegging has an intimidating learning...

    Dry hopped American Brown Ale

Decided to dry hop this one to use up all my hops. Opinions? https://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/recipe/view/1366996/american-brown

Slow Cool Down effect on Hop Bitterness

I've noticed an extra lemon like bitterness in some of my recipes using the recipe editor, and recently noticed the "no chill" option to try and account for the extended cool down time I get with an ice bath. It usually takes me about 20 to 30 minutes to get to 70º. Since I started using a...

Why not a Room Temp Yeast???

So, most yeasts work great at <68º or >80º (Kveik). When will there be a British Ale strain that thrives between 68º and 80º, which I imagine would make brewing much easier for most of us? Is it far off??

    Sweet Haze NEIPA

Going for a sweetish, juicy haze. 3 Gallon batch to be fermented and served from the same corny keg. Only using one hop (Citra) so I can just buy in bulk. Thought of trying Amarillo instead for an orange-ier flavor. Thoughts...

    Scotch Ale Dr. Pepper Notes?

Am I crazy, or am I the only one that often thinks of Dr. Pepper when drinking Scotch Ales? I've noticed it in commercial versions, and notice it in my first Scotch Ale recipe. https://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/recipe/view/1311356/big-red-willy-wee-heavy

    American Stout

Looking for a roasty, sweet-ish stout. Basically, the way I first remember Sierra Nevada Stout tasting years ago (current batches don't seem as roasty as I remember). I know us05 would be an obvious yeast choice, but BRY-97 yeast looks like it would leave some of the sweetness I'm looking for...

    Moving Ingredients within a Recipe

Say I decide to add another boil hop addition after entering the dry hop steps. Can I drag the boil addition up to the proper order in the hop additions, or do I have to delete the dry hops and re-enter them to achieve the proper order? *** Never mind, I just noticed the "sort" option.

    Scottish Export

After a month of consideration and alterations, here's what I've arrived at for a 2.5 Gallon BIAB batch. Feedback welcome! https://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/recipe/view/1311356/big-red-willy-scottish-ale

    Infection

Not sure what it is, but it doesn't look good. This was what I saw left in the fermenter, after transferring to a keg. The FG sample tasted, and smelled, good. Guess I'll give it a chance before I dump it? Oh well. First (visible) infection ever.

    Induction Cooktop Recommendations?

Looking to get off of the stovetop. Was thinking of propane, but not having to buy it, as well as not being able to bring it inside if need be, has me considering induction instead. Besides, my 22 qt brewpot is induction ready. I'd only be using it for 3 to 4 gallon batches. I'm limiting to...
