hey there!

when specifying the grist properties on the mash chemistry calculator (https://www.brewersfriend.com/mash-chemistry-and-brewing-water-calculator), should I add my LME as a base malt? more specifically, I'm planning to add 3 pounds of an 8 lovibond malt extract to my brew after the mash. should I enter 3 pounds, 8 lovibond as I would for a mashed grain? does the LME even need to be specified? just want to make sure i correctly target my ph

thanks for your time!

LME should not be specified. It has already been mashed and boiled. The best water to dilute is with is RO or distilled. Likewise steeping should be done with purified or high quality tap water. Only a mini-mash needs attention to water chemistry or mash pH.
