Kcal is kilocalories, the nutrition value of a food. In the US we use "calories" for the same measure.

A 230 kcal beer in Germany is a 230 cal beer in US. And Canada, I suppose.
Yep. There are no squirrel calories. That unit at least is global but in the US, we just call them Calories, leaving off the "kilo".
Wr have to be different...

I got a second Inkbird 308 controller because my current one is being used to lager my Shady Bohemian but I also need to provide heat for my Irish Red Ale I'm brewing today. I'll make a second fermentation chamber using a cardboard box and some Reflectix.

This is pretty exciting, not a fancy, shiny piece of equipment, just an ingredient.
Going to be brewing David Heath's ESB. David swears by Lyles Golden Syrup, and I wanted to stay true to the recipe. This just showed up today from Tipperary, Ireland.
Two questions
What is a Sticky Pud?
What is a kcal?

Sticky Pud is sort of like a toffee flavored brownie. kcal is a unit of energy, like calories.

Can't wait to hear how it turns out. I've brewed several of his recipes and enjoyed them. Looks like Amazon has Lyles here in the states.

What an idea. That’s cool

Refreshing to find run of the mill Brits that are funny to anyone but themselves :) Guessing some of their wordage is to blame for that. I found the same with my Irish Wife's family until spending some time with them.

Delivered to my local Ace Hardware store. 2 gallon cooler to be used as a mini mash tun for my upcoming partial mash brews.

Got a couple of 5 gallon paint strainer bags for filtering in it.

Great idea I've used paint strainer bags before mashing 5 gal grist with perfect results no different than bigger mash bag.

I have used the same 5-gallon paint strainer bag for the past 30 something brews, and it still seems ready for more. My past 3 brews have been of the 5-6 pound grain bill, and the bag seems to handle the material without issue (knock on wood). My frugal nature has been exposed.
It came in a 2-pack, and the second bag is still in its package.

It's a good fit for the small cooler and I'm sure it'll hold up well. The 2 pack is just a bonus. Had a $10 Ace rewards card, so the cooler & bags set me back less than $30.

Bob, are you going to be doing the partial mash bit from now on?
