Had my first taste of a home brewed beer in 1994, in Arlington, Texas. A year later I tried my hand and failed miserable tryin got recreate a cherry wheat beer. It was awful! Fast forward to 2018 and I picked up a home brew kit from Northern Brewer. Ripped off five beers in 11 months and then disappeared for 7 years. I just blame the now, ex-wife. Now in 2026, I got the bug, working at a brewery in Paso Robles and started back up brewing beer.
If I am not drinking beer fro Cal Coast Beer Company, located in Paso Robles. I am tipping back one of mine. I created series of beers, starting with where I worked in the Bay Area, at BART. The beers were named for things in our rail system, Engineering Hold Pale Ale, Switch 61 Cranked & Clamped and Lessons Learned. After that I moved on to an FPL (that's Fantasy Premier League), brewing Two Cheaters Ale and Nuno's Bearded Stout.
I've now finished my first beer, the Inspired Paso Ale (or IPA for short) in my new Paso Robles Series, with two more planned. The next is another IPA called Paso Pioneer Ale, in honor of Pioneer Days in Paso Robles in October.
