What are you doing with homebrew today?

My yeast didn't take, and when I looked at the package, it was expired. I guess I'm going in a little early and taking a long lunch today.
How expired? When did you pitch?

It expired in June and had done nothing by this morning. With the White Labs Pure Pitch, that is VERY unusual. I got another packet at lunch today, brought it home, and pitched it.
I initially pitched before noon on Sunday. 24 hours? No activity? Pure Pitch? = Bad.

Sometimes, it takes a bit longer than 24 hours. Probably not in this case, but sometimes.

I'm sure it can, but the Pure Pitch packages are essentially a double pitch. Those things normally take off, and I'm actually surprised that I don't see any activity from lunch today, but I was at 65-66 degrees in the fermenter already. It seems that around 18 hours is forever with that stuff. Having said that, I haven't used 036 before.

Heating up strike water for the Simcoe IPA brew while listening to the NASCAR qualifying at Darlington and getting my fantasy football rankings lined up :D ended up being in 4 fantasy leagues this year, whoops!

I did that for 17 years and it was like having a 2nd job. I had to retire from fantasy football about 8 years ago.
