Craigerrr's Travels

Well, a different kind of travel coming up for us soon.
My wife had been off work for 2 years for shoulder surgery, she had a tear.
Recovery has been slow, and has been rough.
It actually took a year of waiting to get the surgery...
Long story short, her return to work was not going well. It is a very physical job, she is a Nurse working in the community.
We started discussing how we were going to work it out that we could manage on just my income, then BAM, two things happened real fast!
I new position came up with the company she works for, which is a real breeze, and a house came up for sale that suited is perfectly.
We made the deal on the house on Saturday, and will take possession on October 6th. Our place will be on the market next week, and should sell for BIG $$$$. New house is only 5 minutes from where we are now, this downsize will help us immensely!
Stay tuned for more details!

Bloody ripper Craigerr moving is the next most stressful thing to dieing? Well for all those involved:confused:.
Tip NEVER NEVER NEVER agree to let mother in law help with the move!!!:eek::eek:

Got our house sold, three days on the market, 40 showings, 10 offers.
We sold for $620,000 more than we paid seven years ago! Nutty!!!
The issue right now with property values increasing so rapidly is that there are not enough new housing starts.
Inventory of homes is super low, buyers are checking daily to see if something gets listed that will suit them.
The most perfect time for us to downsize.
Many buyers are sending letters to the homeowner with their offer to try and sway the decision in their favor.
We asked our agent not to show us any letters, just show us the $$$$$.
Closing date is a little further out than we had hoped at Nov 3rd.

Sounds like similar thing that's happening on the Sunny Coast property market has gone BONKERS. People from down south wanting to escape the lockdowns and now working from home more people are relocating to more ideal climates.

3 days!!?? Jeez, I hope you had plans in place for the next step! Where you headed buddy?
Closing date on the sale is Nov 3rd, we get possession of the new place October 6th, so we're good. Just moving 5 minutes down the road actually. We are downsizing, which is allowing us to clear off all of our debt. We will still have a mortgage, but no car payments on two 4 year old, but like new vehicles. We are having a new kitchen installed, and will be finishing the basement, and still have a some $$ to knock the mortgage down a bit.

Just to be clear, you got $620K CND ($488K USD) over your asking price? Wow, even that overage is 3 times the value of my house! Good for you Craig!

Yeah man things in real estate are tulip culture as far as I'm concerned Our p!ace in the sticks here is only about 10k shy of double where we bought it 8 years ago!

Our condo in Southern California, which we purchased in 1998 and have owned outright since 2014, is now worth about 4x our original purchase price. The slightly bigger unit next door just sold for 675k, and a smaller unit adjacent to ours is under contract for just north of 600k. The market is nuts, but when we are ready to move, we will buying a new (to us) home with cash and without a mortgage.
