Flew into Mexico City yesterday, then a connecting flight to Merida. Twelve hour day of travel. Bro in law, retired 6 years ago and moved to Merida. Spending a couple days catching up then have a beach house in Chixulub on the gulf for 4 nights.

If you look at the last picture and the apparent piece of land extending out into the Gulf, it is a pier that is 5 kilometers long, it is a two lane highway, with a tank farm, and an office building, and is visible from space.

I have all but forgotten my 6+ years of school spanish, but even I guessed roughly correctly at that one...

Doesn't have to be a girl, it could be any feminine noun, but I'd still bet on the stated translation. Likely not considered racist down there, though.

Ya, I am sure there is no racist intent, just something that would NOT work in todays society. Just made me cringe a little, not to say I won't go back mind you

It is hard to see in this picture, and I will get a better pic tomorrow that is not so wickedly backlit, but that pier that is 5km long pier is right at the horizon.

And the natually occurring beauty that I discoverd in the pool!
