Tonights the night i start brewing my first!
im going to be using the recipe provided by Blackmuse, thanks a lot buddy!

tell me is it ok to halve the recipe?
i assume the boiling ,mashing time remains the same?

Once again thank you.

Yes, you can. You might have to convert for different alpha acid percentages and the flavor may be different but you can use them.

ok i used it im 45 mins into my mash and it looks greyish? not even thick...

ok its got a hazy yellowish/grey color
should it look like the final product,a golden beer?
im using simpsons golden promise and pacific crest hops

Sounds like you are on your way! Good luck buddy! Take lots of notes on what you do and what you think of the finished product so you can make adjustments (if need e) on batch 2!

Out of curiosity, how many litres are going into the fermenter? How many litres did you start you boil with? How many grams of hops did you add at 45 minutes?

Pacific Crest hops sound delicious! Those sound like something I would enjoy.

do i add the full 11g of yeast seen that i halved the recipe?

I can answer that question better with more information. Whats the final volume of beer? Did you use 1kg of malt?

i lost about 1,5 liter from the 8 that i used
i used 1,115g of malt.
i halved everything except the time.

Dont worry about the color. How much malt? You are probably boiling with 8-9 litres. You may want to boil down to 4 or 5 if you didnt use more than 1 kg of grain. Unless you got a lot more than 60% efficiency.

You will make beer so don't worry too much about "messing it up". Most likely you didn't mess anything up. 1st batch! No worries. Sorry for the late response... Brewersfriend wouldn't load.

Remember as Black muse said it's your first brew man so chill you've got no reference points to fall back on so your just going to have to trust the process.
Let it take it's course your in safe hands man;).

It will be beer!!!
You sound like me doing my first ever brew and with malted grain (luckily crushed) :)

Just wanted to say that I saw a good tip in another thread: boil your wort down till the required OG. Don't worry about the volume too much.
Exactly opposite from what I used to do :)
