Off to a banging start on the reboot!

    Hello out there!!!

How's everybody doig? Been off the radar for a while. Decided back in July that I was going to try to lose a little weight. Unfortunately cutting out calories after 4pm has REALLY stretched out my homebrew supply. On the plus side, I'm down 50 pounds and the rather copious supply of beer in...

"You know, what I really need is..."

Well what DO you :really" need? I'll start... I really need to add ANOTHER pump and further overly complicate things in the interest of saving 10 minutes of work a month...

    What’s your “house” yeast?

Been thinking about simplifying things a bit. Don’t know about getting down to one, but I think I could probably get everything I make done by just keeping M54 and M15 on hand…

    Think I’ve got a dumper..

Well the fermentation was off too much lag, fg was way too low. 3 day weekend is tasting like a sour(supposed to be a blonde)….

    All Cluster IPA

https://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/recipe/view/1481205/clusterfork-ipa Been kicking around the idea for an all Cluster IPA, simple grain bill, around 50 ibu's. The cane sugar helps with the lag time M44(BRY-97) can have, using it in a Blonde right now and it's going to be a 3 week...

    Alternative to airlock?

Is there any reason a person couldn't just use an air filter on a fermenter to keep the nasty stuff out? seems like a simple way to eliminate any chance of suck back.

    Bulin’s brew system 3.0

Working on the rebuild/upgrade. Starting with a kettle hops filter. DigiBoil false bottom covered with #40 stainless mesh secured with a 13” false bottom recycled from my old mash tun.

    Chapman Thermobarrel

Ordered a 15 gallon Thermobarrel today, been looking at them for some time and I took 4 very important things into account when I ordered it. 1. Got a VERY nice end of the year bonus from my boss(that I MAY have forgotten to tell my wife about) and squirreled it away in my carpenters "vaction"...

So I'm pretty sure my DigiBoil just died...

Made a batch of Root Beer today for my youngest, while I was running CIP afterwards, the Digiboil died and will not power back up. Got me thinking, I run three vessels anyway, thinking about a Spike electric kettle or another brand. Looking at a "buy once, cry once" solution. Any good...

One of those "oh, yeah" moments...

After several attempts at spunding with the all rounder and not being able to hold more that 5 psi.... Finally realized the preasure relief valve wasn't quite screwed in tight...and I was like "oh, yeah" that explains it.

    Thinking about running for office

Been thinking about running for state assembly here in Wisconsin, not sure if I’d stand much of a chance, but maybe it’s just time that people working for a paycheck actually get representation.

High gravity breweing for a Czech(-ish American) Light Beer?

In my ongoing effort to brew a light beer that's actually, well, good; I'm goingt to attempt to brew a higher gravity version and just add water to get final gravity down to the proper level, pre fermentation. Got the strike water heating now...

    Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Off to a great start here in Wisconsin, got the tukkey brined and all ready to go, got up at 4am....AND the ignitor decided today was a good day to die in my smoker. Oh well, looks like I'm roasting the bird instead of smoking it this tear...hope it doesn't get too dry.

    Feral Hops...

Going to go pick some hops this afternoon, Dad was helping my Uncles out picking on my Grandfather's farm and spotted some wild hops by the back 40, could be these are descended from the feral hops he picked with his great grandfather when he was a young kid(story was that my great great...

    Goals/rewards...

Due to life being life, looks like I'll be buying 3 cars in less than a year. 1. Back in March my work beater died on the wat to a job halfway across the country, bought a decent used car for a good price, don't owe much on it anymore. 2. My Aunt passed away a few weeks ago and I'll be buying...

    Keezer Meltdown

Just got back from working out of town last few days... Near as I can figure the vent on the side of my keezer got blocked when a foam pad fell over it. Got home to a 92 degree keezer and an empty 20lb CO2 tank...I figure the beer inside to be pretty well cooked, the American Lager isn't a big...

    Anybody need any hops?

I've got about 10 years worth in the freezer right now from last years harvest. Let me know if you can use any. I'll send them to you for the shipping. Just bought 1/2 a steer and I'm just plain out of room. I've got Northern Brewer, Sterling, maybe some Saaz(have to check on that one) and a...

    A minor inconvenience...

Well, found out on Thursday that I needed to travel 1750 miles to work in Arizona this week. Decided to drive so I would have a car in when I got there. Solid choice I believe. About 500 miles in, the car started making a bad noise when I stopped for gas, the noise stopped as soon as I pulled...

Keg it or let it sit in the primary....

Here's the situation, brewed my Irish Red on 1/30, Hit fg yesterday around noon. NORMALLY I would give this 7 to 10 days total before I keg it, HOWEVER, just got work that I need to go out of state for the next 3 weeks for work. I'm leaving late Saturday morning, thinking that if the gravity...
