Here in the UK we have seen a general decline in consumption across all categories and it's been going on for years. People are not neccessarily looking for less expensive beer, rather there are fewer people drinking beer.
For me, this is why the volume brewers pull their dirty tricks like...
My homebrew supplies side has fallen off a cliff, my take on that is people have abandoned brewing and gone back to work. I will probably close the webshop in the coming weeks.

I'm surprised how pleased I am but there it is. A bit of validation for what we are trying to do
SO4 is my go to, seems very tolerant and produces really good English style beers. My mild is spot on to my mind, just right. US05 is, in my mind, a bit too punchy for a mild.
That said, I really don't know how either would react to excessive temps.
