I brewed today!

Going to mash thicker, and do a sparge next brew.

Brewed a Bitter in just a little over 4 hours today, numbers right in line.
Drinking what’s left of my Alt. Need to kick this today, no matter the cost. :)

I brewed Saturday, but forgot to take pictures of the process - I only snapped this one image of my kit steaming up the conservatory. Looks like the malty tropics in there.

FWIW, I was brewing my 'Unicorn Blonde Pale Ale' for the first time. Wish me luck.

Someday I hope to visit the "Malty Tropics"! :D

Extending the boil to get to OG.
Second brew with cooler mashtun went much better. Took some notes, need to make some minor adjustments to dial it in a bit more.
Long mash, long boil, long brew day, but that's okay still having a great day in the brewery!

Wow looks way too complicated for me!

Mashed in on my Brown Ale. 15f outside. Glad I’m not brewing a lager with decoctions, step mashes, and longer boil. Using tap water for the first time in about 4 years. Ran 4 gallons through my Brita and added a quarter of a campden tablet. From there it’s up to the beer gods and goddesses.

Do you have anything set up to protect you from the wind?
I would have a fit trying to estimate strike water in those temps. That must be an art.

You don't really need much to mash indoors
Mashing indoors was a game changer
Don't have to worry about wind and rain
I boil outside because I like it and don't want to add the steam and humidity to the house

I used my old Giga wort to heat up the the water in the garage. I did mash out outside. I ran in and outside every 10-15 to check temp and fore up propane as needed.

The weather really didn’t bother me
I'ts not about you I was more concerned about your mash temperature

I just let it roll!
I think the coldest ambient temp I mashed in was 42. I did everything outside, but I adjusted the strike water temperature a couple of degrees. I thought I might want to ask a question for the extreme in case it happens again to me. It is always nice to have a couple of ideas to play with when needed.
