Interesting what makes it an IPA, curious, never seen one so dark, you have my attention.
Of course I have seen darker though, as in a Black IPA, right @Brew Cat ?

The above Boneshaker was earlier this evening.
This is a fermenter sample, still chilling, but down to 7C / 45F and still a little under carbed.
Glad I pulled back on the lactose, at first thought the dried orange peel was a bit much, but chilled and carbed, it is appropriate. Vanilla, yes I added vanilla. If you tasted the beer and I asked if you tasted the vanilla, you would say, "oh is that what that is, yes, now that you mention it, I do" paraphrasing of course.

Here is the recipe. This is an extract kit from Northern Brewer. I've had this kit for about 8 months before I brewed it. LME kits have been darker than expected.. So I have switched to DME kits from Ritebrew. Brewed this kit when I didn't have anything else on my shelf.

Looks like it would be tastey. The carmel malt is what gave it color. 80srm is pretty dark for an ipa

I wouldn't use Mosaic for the 60 minute addition, it is more of a flavor aroma hop, and it is relatively expensive in comparison to say Magnum or Warrior. Magnum is my bittering hop of choice. I would probably pick one or the other of the caramel malts, but but that is being nit picky, and of course this is a kit.
