Yes, winding down in Roma now. Euros sure don’t go very far, it’s a miracle there hasn’t been a revolt. I’m not just talking tourist stuff, basically the 50 euro works out to the US buying power of around 25-30 $ from what I e seen.
Athens traffic is still completely nuts. As are the Rome pedestrian crowds on the weekend
Going to try for one in Rome tomorrow if all goes to plan ( so, IOW, hoping for a miracle)

While there, I highly recommend the Real Mary King's Close tour. Gives a whole new meaning to living underground. The Scottish Parliament building is built on top of part of the old city which was slowly condemned over the years. Apparently in recent times, there's been a major fire on Arthur's Seat. No clue what burned or what didn't but if it's still open, you won't get a finer view of the castle.
Enjoy it, but keep a raincoat handy. If you don't like the weather, just wait 5 minutes, it'll change.
The missus and I did out own tour of all of Scotland. Two things we did wrong, both of which was time allocation. We didn't spend enough time on Skye, nor in the east coast area around Aberdeen. Both were outstanding. If you get time to go to the west side of the country (about 2-3 hours drive, actually) then I highly recommend the train ride from Ft. William through Glenfinnan out to Malaig and back. We both want to go back. It's one of the friendliest places I've ever been.

Thanks. This version of my BW (I vary the recipe a bit every year) has a fruity/floral nose and the taste falls in the caramel/toffee/figs area. At 10.4% ABV, it has a nice boozy warmth at the end. It isn't the best BW I've made, but it is still a nice sipper. Interesting that it hasn't really changed in 3+ years, drinking pretty much identical to when I first tried one. My yearly Barleywine is my favorite brew-day of the year.
Thanks for the suggestions! That train ride sounds amazing. We have the Mary Kings close on our list of things to see. Decided to book the same hotel in the country in Dunfermline to use as a home base the whole time we are there. We will have a rental car so we can take day trips to different areas (want to see Balvenie Distillery and castle and some of the lochs).
I remember the weather when visiting my Uncle and Aunt in the 80’s/90’s/00’s in the border area of Scotland , it does change often.
Second drink of the night at the concert. Girlfriend got this for me… another $21!

Simon, you went all the way to Scotland and are drinking a seltzer from Hawaii and a beer from Mexico?? If I ever get to my bucket-list item of travelling to the UK or Europe, I'm not drinking anything I can get at home.

I had additionally, the plum porter, Annie de noel and saison. I liked all of them but for the porter. It was good, but not to my taste.

Scotland is next year, the seltzer and mexican beer was at a concert at home (California). I would never have a pint of either in Scotland
