What are you doing with homebrew today?

I've only used fresh.
Peel dried or fresh.
Check out the oxebar kegs... Small opening, won't be able to get them out again :)
Getcha self one those mechanics grabber thingies that’s long enough to reach the bottom of the Oxibar so you can pull it out in pieces if necessary.

Working on version 2 of the black rice lager. Backed down the carafa and chocolate malt and added roasted barley and more rice. New thermometer is a winner so far. Wish it had calibration but is well worth the $17 so far

Also useful for keeping an eye on the cool liquor temps. I want to pitch at 60, so I'll need to add some ice here soon

I hope to keg my wee heavy today, just like I meant to do yesterday and the day before. I did harvest yeast and am getting clean samples from the keg. I have carpet installed yesterday because one of our dogs decided she didn't like her accommodations. She is quite the destructive creature when she wants to be. Anyway, one day of moving- no help from the wife at all. Carpet install, a few minutes of help from the wife during commercial breaks on the Hallmark channel... :-/ and now clean up day for Thanksgiving and it looks like once again it will be a very busy day.

I am cautiously optimistic.

You got this!

Im packing my Raspberry/chocolate stout. it is fucking amazing. As well as a batch of Session IPA and shuffling kegs around in the cooler before i drive to NC for Thanksgiving with the gfs family

I was planning to keg Cragunitas tonight. I was literally about to get up and go do that and the power went out. Don't need power to keg beer, but light would be nice. It went out pretty abruptly and has been out for a good 10 minutes now.

On Tap golden is back on tap and the strike water is ready for my winter warmer. The Citra and Mosaic combo smells and tastes heavenly

Hard to go wrong with Citra/Mosaic combo. It makes me want to crank up some Bob Marley and put on the flip flops. Problem is we have a low of 29F tonight. I’m allergic to cold feet, so the flip flops gonna have to wait a few months.

Man... what a day. I got the beer kegged about 2200-ish. It was the last thing I did before coming into the house and getting ready for the 0600 wake up.
Headed over to Lackland AFB for operation home cooking. The community hosts basic training recruits on the graduation path for Thanksgiving meal. The recruits get a day pass, so we had a pair of guys for half the day. One of them was local, so we went into downtown S/A for some sightseeing for the other guy from Houston. What are the odds we get 2 Texans? Both are transplants, but that's not important. We hit up a Mexican place and the local guy's mom caught up with us for about an hour. Really cool. headed back home about 1400. The cook went way, way, way too long for the turkey, I couldn't get the very old smoker over 350 to save my soul. So the bacon wrapped turkey breast was the last ready and then, only for 2nd's. Then a neighbor and friend came by for dessert and to jaw with the recruits too. We're both ex Army, so to us the 'air force' guys are Army Air Corps :p They had some good questions and I hope they had a good time. We dropped them off with 10 minutes to spare, and they were definitely full. They graduate basic training next week.

Nothing stops the homebrewer, nothing!!!!!

I hear you; cold is my kryptonite. I forget which one it was last year but it was in the 2 weeks of winter, 2025. I brewed on a day that was in the 40's, with 30mph winds. I have east facing rear, roll up door and west facing main door that will fit a For Super Duty with an 8" lift. Unfortunately, that rear door is my water source too and of course that's the direction the wind was coming from. The brew day was 100% successful - mash wasn't too long, numbers met, etc. but it was only tolerably warm until the boil was going.
