What are you doing with homebrew today?

Debating adding a bulkhead and thermometer to my mash tun. Does anyone who mashes in their kettle have one and like it or hate it? The 6 inch probe would provide more accurate temps but make stirring difficult. And the 2 inch probe wouldn't show the mash temp from the center of the mash tun

The 6" probe would be more accurate but, I can't imagine not cursing it every time I was doughing in and trying to get rid of dough balls. I don't mash in a kettle so this is just my sub 2¢ opinion.

my personal opinion but if you need a thermometer in the whole time just drill a small hole in your lid and drop one of those 9" long stem thermometers in to monitor the temp. one of my kettles has that. the other doesn't but I generally check the temp before and after except when Im doing a decoction

My kettle has one and I like having it. I just do t hit it when I stir and I am careful removing the bag.

today I received a new thermometer so I'm double checking it an others
one needed to be adjusted
also sampling my altbier
I like it but it needs more carbonation

Well since I started with pilsner it was light crystal and light roast
For darker id probably roast the Vienna
This home roasted gives a good flavor
Fresh bread

Well this morning I tasted my crystal that I made and the center was still damp so roasted some more

I see the tank
Are you purging the fermenter as you drain?

I did
This is a good beer
I can tell because I keep reaching for it
If I can make it last will serve it on Thanks Giving Day
Thanks
I was thinking of going to do the same on one of my future brews
And then it suddenly occurred to me that I can get the slices in my oxebar keg, but not out!
