I visited a brewery today!

Belgian Dubbel at the Benedictine Brewery. Very tasty beer and neat that its brewed by the monks.

Today, I visited Back River Brewery on beautiful (even in winter) Tybee Island, GA, where our own @Bigbre04 is the master brewer. And having sampled the entire tap list, I’m not using the term “master brewer” lightly. This guy can brew.

He basically has a hotplate and spaghetti pot, out if which comes 4 half-kegs of surprisingly good beer. The Hefeweitzen is as good as anything I’ve made, and his Bock is spot on.

We had lunch, and their chef (much more than a cook) makes really good food, especially in a very tourist town.

Cute spot. That Rye Pale Ale sounds good.

A couple of weeks ago we had dinner at Maui Brewing's mothership on island...pretty much a very expensive glass of OK with lots of stainless steel and a creative use of old kegs where you enter and exit through the swag shop...
