Home Reno Projects

Looks awesome!

I think the reason for the gap at the bottom is so moisture doesn't wick up from the basement floor into the drywall or in the event of a minor flood. But the lack of outlets? Can't think of a good reason for that. A poor reason maybe they were saving a couple bucks on the drywall installation.

Couple if renditions of what I have in mind for the basement

We got possession of the new placer earlier this week, and are getting started on some reno's / upgrades
Saved an 8 foot section of counter top and as well as the sink and faucet to use in the basement brew room.
Here are "during" photo's of the kitchen, and ensuite bathroom.
Removing the tiled backsplash meant removing the drywall...

Here is a before on the laundry room.
Being that it is a bungalow, no more carrying laundry up and down stasis:)... for Barb...
She has already sold those laundry machines, no stacking set has been ordered.

Kitchen cabinets are all done, counter top delayed until next Thursday, backsplash will go on after that.
Really please with how this turned out. Cabinet guy measured the doors above the stove wrong, will be a couple of weeks before they are in. The counter top will overhang about 12" on the near side. This will be convenient for me so I can watch Barb do all of the work!!!

Counter top in, backsplash going in Monday. Just waiting for delivery of new range and slimline microwave/vent hood. Cabinet guy made a mistake on the two doors over the stove, replacements should be here in another week. The clutter on the counter there is new light fixtures waiting to be installed.

faux coffered ceiling in basement
2x4 framed grid with 1x4 MDF, and 21" square pieces of drywall as ceiling tiles
should look pretty slick, and leave access if ever needed

gutted, and increased floor space by about 25 sq ft
the gap in the wallboard on the left is where the original wall was
had to break up the floor to move the toilet, and rework the shower drain
