Hey all,

I have a Marzen that will be crashing here soon. Going to call this my oktoberfest for this year. I also have the PP Sour that is also going to be on draft soon. I was debating between brewing a Helles or more Hefe for the end of summer. I have 2 draft lines that i can put it on. I can replace the blueberry kolsch with the helles or brew more Hefe and put the helles on after the blueberry.

what do yall think?

Helles that I just whipped up. made it a little bigger to make it different from my normal Golden lager that is a year around(and probably closest to a german pilsner stylewise) I would use Apex Augustian Lager yeast and Spund it at 14C. So I could easily have it ready before oktoberfest technically starts.

4-POG IPA -- 7.3/55 --> Strata IPA 7.1/54
5-Golden Lager -- 5/23 (year around)
6-Black Lager(schwarzbier) -- 5.8/24 -->more of the same until it starts to get cooler for stout season
7-Blueberry Kolsch -- 6.1/19 --> possibly a helles or just more of the same blueberry kolsch(its very good).
8-Session Juicy IPA -- 5/37 (year around)

should definitely have a heffe on tap during Oktoberfest along with the Marzen and also a Pils

If we end up doing an event i will change the names for the beers to reflect the german style. (example being my black lager i will call a Schwarzbier but the gen pop doesnt know what that is so i call it a black lager)

doubtful that we will do anything but i can dream right?

I will probably end up brewing the Hefe next week. This week i am thinking i will brew Either a double batch of my standard golden lager or a batch of the imperial pils to age for a few months.

just got all of the keg couplers changed out and a nitrogen genie is on order so that will be good!

I know you don't have the space to sit on anything, and you have a Marzen, which I assume is a lager, but it would be nice to do that Helles as a more crushable lager with just the Munich and Pils.
I have made a couple of the German beers, and I am far from an expert, but if you keep them simple (Pils/Vienna/Munich) they come out good with a clean lager yeast.
You brew a hell of a lot more than I do though LOL.

my standard golden lager is a german pils, i just dont call it that as no one would know what that is.

im currently battling my glycol chiller being down so my brew schedule for this week is screwed. Waiting on more glycol.

I just brewed the beer for our "Polkatoberfest" . Basically a Bush lite clone. Went empty quickly last year. Just put a German tap handle on it and I'm in.
yup im gonna do a similar thing and put the actual german names for things on my board and change my little logo things to a bavarian flag version to mark the german beers.

It is a light beer. I'm surprised it is in there at all, but nothing wrong with a little something, something. So, 10oz in 80 gallons, yes.

You could do the Hefe as a Blueberry Hefe.
I've done it with Blackberry with fantastic results.

10oz chocolate malt in 80 gallons ?
you would be surprised but you can taste it on the very back end of the beer. It is almost a slight round chocolate note on the very end of the finish. it also darkens the beer a bit to a more golden color.

You would not know it was there if i didnt tell you, but it is perceptible. I have actually done tests of chocolate, black, RB, and black patent. I really like the golden lager. Its very clean and tasty. also quick to produce.
