    Western pour

In the old western movies , a lot of beer gets poured. How did they do it? Gas in a keg would be gone ( in the wagon before it got there) after a couple pours. Were there CO2 bottles and regulators? Did they put the kegs upstairs and use gravity? Must have been tasty out in the desert with no...

    Bottle conditioning

I had to bottle a couple gallons of Wayner's Pale Ale last week due to not reading all of the recipies finer points. It was for 8 gallons not five so I ended using two fermenters. I used a sugar cube in a couple plastis Coke bottles and corn sugar in the old brown 12oz beer bottles. The PET...

    Lager yeast choice

I am going to brew up a lager , just your basic Coors Light kinda thing. Would 34/70 work out for this, I see it says German Lager? Or would I be better putting this off until I can get an American Lager yeast like WLP840?

    Tilt trouble

I brewed up a Blue Moon Clone today. All went well with no spills to the floor, my measure of sucess! Checked the gravity with the refractometer thingie and was a bit high at 1.057 , ok its a bit strong, its beer. Put it in the fermeneter with my Tilt ,1.047 Usually a point or two but never this...

    Temp Control

I know there has been some discussion on temp control of electric kettles here. I have the Anvil 10 gallon kettle running on 220V The system works quite well for me and I am very happy with it. The last batch of beer i brewed I finished up the cooling as usual with the SS coil type cooler...

    It stopped

One of the few times I don't follow a recipe or use an NB kit I seem to have a stubborn brew. My Fridge Cleaner mashed, brewed and cooled just great. Started fermenting at 1.050 dropped to 1.035 then just seems to sit there, waiting... starring at me ... taunting me. One of the first I have...

    Including photo

OK, dumb question of the day. How do you add a photo to a post when using a cell phone? (Android) On a computer I just cut and paste but I do not seem to be able to do that with the phone , only include as a file attachment.

    Small batch in Anvil

I would like to do a small batch of Highvoltagemans PA in my Anvil Electric. Seems like it is a good idea to do it BIAB style to use up the dead space there would be with the basket. Sorry if it has been discussed but I didn't see it. But.. When using a bag, if I want to raise my mash temp in...

    Forced Carbonator

On occasion I have emptied my keg before the new batch is done in the fermenter. When that happens I am naturally anxious to get the next batch carbed up and tapped. So I have done the CO2 rock the keg thing to speed things a bit. Well it is heavy and I am old and lazy. So this is my newest...

    Boiling indoors

I too had had problems with moisture. I recently took over a room in the basement for brewing. I tiled the floor, painted, added a sink and build some counters. My first attempt at brewing down there was wet one . The one small window even with a fan in front did not stop the moisture from...

    Ph adjustment

in a 5 gallon batch about how much Lactic Acid (liquid) would you expect to use in a mash to lower PH a couple tenth of a percent? I tossed about a table spoon and did not see much change...

    Down the Rabbit Hole.

Fortunately this was a tiny tiny step but I just had to check 'em out. While at WallyWorld today I stumbled across these cute plastic bottles. They are a real thick hard feeling plastic with a Stainless looking botton and top. The top has a silicone looking seal, come in several colors and were...

    Mashout

I lost the post but it seems no one worries about the ten minute 170° mashout at the end of mashing? Does that seem to be everyones plan?
