Hello support,

if you check the Batch Statistics for Extract Base Recipes page calculates with 45 ppg as per stated in the notes below the calculator and the Yeast Pitch Rate and Starter Calculator calculates with 42 ppg.

https://www.brewersfriend.com/yeast-pitch-rate-and-starter-calculator/

This way if you calculate with a fixed batch size and DME addition it gets you different OG's for the two calculators.
Is this intentional because of difference in the usual batch size or just an error?
If yed, then which is better/more accurate to calculate starter OG?

Thank you for the answer/fix in advance!

In the first example, there is .2 kg (7 ounces or ) of DME. In the second, there is 7.25 ounces (205.4 grams) of DME. That's not a huge difference, but it IS a difference.

If I set it to the exact same amount (200 gramms) the difference in OG is even bigger...
(1035 vs 1038)

The meaning of my post was: I think it should not be any different.

Or, if it should, then is there a logical explanation for this? And which is the best suited to calculate starter OG made from water and DME?
