What's your next brew

Hey, take a break from brewing completely to get your motor back in a few weeks. I think we all hit that wall at least once. Take a break. I hear you though
Yea I think you're right about needing a break. I just hate buying beer now and I'm certainly not going to stop drinking it so it's gotta come from somewhere :D
 
Well after nearly 6 years of brewing, I finally hit a rut. Just seems like too much work for 4-5 hours on weekends getting stuff out and putting it away again. My spouse and I finally have the same days off, and I think that probably has a lot to do with it as well (not being forbidden from brewing, I would rather spend time together than alone for 4 hours brewing). I've got ingredients for my Irish Stout still, so I'll make some time soon hopefully to get that put together (with or without oysters). After that I may go back to extract/steeping and partial mash batches. It feels weird to lose my motivation to brew, but I'm sure it's temporary :confused:
You do it when you can. You don't have to do it all the time. I don't have the time to brew frequently, so I make the 5-gallon batches for myself. I also frequent the local breweries though.
Meeting someone, trying to spend time with her, having to work 6 days a week right now, and trying to get to a yard that got destroyed by a hard freeze is a bit of a challenge.
Y'all are still newlyweds, you need quality time.
When I get time, I think I might make my first Hefe. I bugged y'all enough in the meetings about making one, so I might as well do it.

It’s one of my favorites, and I don’t have to drink all 5gallons in a month,lol. Let me know if there are any concerns with this being my first all grain beer.

That's ok. Sounds more like you need a vacation from brewing and not a retirement. The urge will come back sooner or later. I've gone through periods where I back off for a bit. Usually, once my beer runs out and I tire of buying beer (great beers but $$$) the urge to brew comes back.

They sell beer in cans and bottles now. Go buy some and explore some styles you’ve never brewed. After a month or three the feeling will return.

It is a lot of work, it sounds like your priorities are in the right place though.

I was planning on going with the Gary F recipe on Brewers Friend. The mashing looks complicated. The system I got is supposed to handle multiple mash settings. So we’ll see how it goes. I’m also planning on using bottled spring water. Would that work for this beer?

COVID Operation, first brewed early on during... COVID. It is a Hazy with some lactose (not a lot), dried tangerine peel, and a dash of vanilla. Comes in around 6%
