What are you listening to now

A little more of an A/V thing but if you can....strong recommendation for the HBO doc on Billy Joel. Long....and (not but) REALLY Good!

The guys song book passed two generations!

I've never had much luck. What's your process
My process:

Get two panes of glass or smooth tile, larger than the record. Preheat them to about 150 F, in any case don’t exceed 175F. Using oven mitts, place one glass pane/tile on a heatproof surface, put the cleaned bare record on it, place the other atop it.

Let it sit to cool with something about 5 pounds atop it. For a few days minimum, a week is better. You can move it to a more convenient place once it cools, about a half hour.

That will remove some warp. Repeat as needed.

Note that the center of the record is thicker than the grooved part, so not all warp can be removed, but it can get to playable easily enough.

Also, be careful to not slide the glass or tiles across the record! Also, you can use a hair dryer to heat things up instead of the oven.

The Google knows other ways, but generally you flatten it with pressure and time, maybe a little warmth.

I've done something similar with a hair dryer and weight.

Just checked "radar love" and they were all so young ;)
Not sure if this came out in the states, but it was a hit in their native country with George Kooymans doing the vocals

Radar love was a huge hit, in Canada for sure, I have to imagine it was in the US too.
I have very clear memories of loving it when it came out, listening to 680 CFTR! 680 is still an operating AM station, it is now a 24 news station.

Can you imagine how big a hit it was in their home country.
When George Kooymans got too sick to perform, the other members of the band decided they would not go on without him...
End of golden earring.

In 2021, once known, George couldn't perform anymore,, radar love was played from carrillions and churches

I confess that I didn't know that they were a Dutch band!

I certainly had no clue. But the frontman’s name is a bit obvious.

Trying to remember when I first heard Radar Love. Must’ve been the late 70’s while I was deciding to be an engineer instead of a lawyer or doctor. Can’t say regret my choice though.

Lots of history and brewing podcasts while moving stuff. We have also been having Alexa play our “likes” which unfortunately includes Sophie’s likes as well. Family mix we call it.

A shitload of Moody Blues.
Another great one gone. RIP John Lodge. Very sad.
Sad news
Looks like Justin Hayward (79) is the only surviving member, at least from the original Moody Blues
I actually play "The Voice", I should make a recording of it and post it up.

I liked the 80s albums, and my Mom and I went to a few of their concerts in the 80s. The 60s and 70s albums are insanely cool, and one of those songs was played as part of my wedding.

I also was listening to the Blue Jay's album today (Justin Harward/John Lodge). That is cool as well. Justin Hayward did some of the vocals on the 70s version of War of the Worlds. If you have never heard that, it is worth a listen. Nobody ever played that on the radio.

I saw the Moody Blues in the early 80's at a small outdoor venue. I couldn't tell which of them it was, but they needed to get a stool for one of the band members to sit on. He was so apologetic to the crowd about it. It was a really good show, it was a warm fuzzy all over feeling the whole night. No Denny Laine obviously as he was busy with Sir Paul at the time

As far as 80s stuff, whenever I hear The Other Side of Life, I always remember driving up to North Carolina when I was much, much younger and spending the better part of a weekend in a motel room with a very pleasant girl. LOL

I have that War of the Worlds album. It's a great album. Richard Burton's narration is fantastic and the songs and musical talent is awesome with Justin Hayward, Phil Lynott, Julie Covington, and others.
